Hey, Joyful Riders! Here’s a chance to bike for science and help shape safer places to ride. UMN researchers are looking for volunteers to join them on September 23 between 2 and 7 p.m. Bring your bike and ride a study route that starts and ends at the Civil Engineering Building, 500 Pillsbury Drive SE, in Minneapolis. You’ll use a provided device that records your travel and acceleration, gathering data that could help MnDOT improve bike infrastructure as more people hop on e-bikes. You can sign up using the QR code in the flyer—or just show up and ride by. It’s all good.

It's all built up to this! Our 2026 DJ Ride Finale is October 3 and will feature an extra hour of dancing/biking, 3 DJs, 3 dance stops, AND a Lilac Park bonfire with marshmallows at the ready for toasting. Don't miss the final hurrah of 2026 with the Joyful Riders, @perennialcycle, and DJs Dev, Dave Eckblad, and Elliott Payne. If you've been meaning to make one of these DJ rides all summer but haven't yet, this is ... your last chance. -- FEATURED DJs (photos in order of bios): Dev (photo by Tim Van Cleave) has been a regular in the Twin Cities drum and bass scene for over 20 years, playing alongside acts like Dieselboy, Aphrodite, and AK1200 and opening for other artists such as DJ Assault, Maktub, and many more. Dev is also no stranger to streaming, having hosted weekly radio shows since the early 2000s. From early internet streaming to local college radio and now Twitch, Dev brings the music to the masses. In 2022, Dev partnered with the Joyful Riders Club and Perennial Cycle to bring mobile dance parties to the Twin Cities. Now in their fifth year, these events bring out hundreds of riders from across the nation every year. Dave Eckblad is a DJ and sound system designer from Minneapolis. He's constantly active in the local electronic dance music community, helping run stage and sound for various shows, consulting for friends to get the most out of their speakers, and servicing turntables and mixers. His music selection is sporadic, wide-ranging, and overcomplicated. He circles the IDM drain with a strong focus on swimming upstream toward musical tonality and social aptitude mired in heavy basslines and counterpoint. He's the sole proprietor of mnVibe.com, formerly a raver bulletin board and now a local dance events blog. Dave has a strong interest in kites and a mild appreciation of hot dogs, as ascribed to him by other people. Elliott Payne has been a Minneapolis house DJ for over 20 years. Currently, Elliott is pretty busy as our Minneapolis City Council president, but when he gets a chance, he loves shining a light on his house DJ skills! That's right, the City Council president will help you get your groove on by laying down some sick beats.
