Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton, MN was originally the Lakeside Berry Farm owned by the Hipp Family until the late 1970s. Rhubarb was one of the plentiful crops grown and can still be found growing wild in the park. The New Brighton Area Historical Society is holding their 26th Annual 'Rhubarb Fest' on Sunday June 7th, 2026. Join @behindbarsbicycleshop ambassador Andy @andyanastigmat for a social ride to the festival picnic where Keys Restaurant Rhubarb Dessert Sampler plates will be available to purchase $7. Rhubarb crisp, pie bar, ice cream, rhubarb sauce and coffee.
Meet 12 Noon at Behind Bars Bicycle Shop with a 12:15pm departure. 208 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413 The ride will take us North along the Mississippi then East on the tranquil Rice Creek trails, 11 miles, approximately an hour travel time to reach the park. There will be a moderate number of climbs to reach Long Lake Park. We will try to maintain an average 12mph pace. This is a No Drop ride meaning we will stay together. Estimate the full ride outing to be about 3 hours. 22 miles round trip return to the shop. Bring a good supply of water.
