Rhubarb was one of the plentiful crops grown and can still be found growing wild in the park. The New Brighton Area Historical Society is holding their 26th Annual 'Rhubarb Fest' on Sunday June 7th, 2026. Join @behindbarsbicycleshop ambassador Andy @andyanastigmat for a social ride to the festival picnic where Keys Restaurant Rhubarb Dessert Sampler plates will be available to purchase $7. Rhubarb crisp, pie bar, ice cream, rhubarb sauce and coffee. \n\nMeet 12 Noon at Behind Bars Bicycle Shop with a 12:15pm departure. 208 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413 The ride will take us North along the Mississippi then East on the tranquil Rice Creek trails, 11 miles, approximately an hour travel time to reach the park. There will be a moderate number of climbs to reach Long Lake Park. We will try to maintain an average 12mph pace. This is a No Drop ride meaning we will stay together. We will depart the shop at 11:15 AM for a leisurely ride down to the Grease Pit Bike Shop. From there, you can find a spot to view the parade, and enjoy everything May Day has to offer. It's the perfect way to kick off summer, make new friends, and reconnect with old ones after the long winter.\n\nStart at Behind Bars Bicycle Shop, 208 13th Ave NE.\nMeet at 11 AM, depart at 11:15.\nDistance: 5 miles.\nPace: 10 to 15 mph.\nNo Drop (we will stay together as a group).\nEnd at the Grease Pit Bike Shop, 2750 Bloomington Ave.\n\nThe parade will start at the Grease Pit, go down Bloomington Ave, and end at the park.\nAfter the parade will be the Tree of Life Ceremony, viewable from a hill on the west side of Powderhorn Lake.\nPeople will gather in the park for music, dancing, and picnicking.\nThere will be a block party at Reverie, 1517 E 35th St.\nThe day will close with a punk rock show at the Grease Pit.\n\nBring a helmet, bike lock, water bottle, food, and sun protection.\nWater and bathrooms will be at the Powderhorn recreation center.\n\nVisit maydaympls.org for more info.\n\nRules of the Ride:\n- Respect other road and trail users.
