The John Cook House is ours, everyone! Seven years of neglect has ended. Seven years of vacancy is over. Seven years of broken windows and squatters and vandalism. The developer’s quest to turn this neighborhood asset into a parking lot has failed. Today the John Cook House is in the hands of a community that wants to see our history restored. And that work begins now! From now on the John Cook House will be something we can enjoy together. And when we’re finished, this will be a place we can be proud of. Hell, the John Cook House Project is something we can be proud of now. We could not have done this without you. We would not have done this without hundreds of people standing by us. Thank you. Thank you for caring about this house. Thank you for rooting for us. Thank you for sending money. Thank you for volunteering your time. But most of all, thank you for caring about Northeast. 📢 Starting Line Cyclocross applications are officially open! This program is designed to support FTWNB (femme, trans, women, non-binary) riders leading up to their first cyclocross race. Three clinics will be led by professional coach Corey of Triple C Coaching with the support of Versus Race Team. Qualified applicants will receive: 👉 Three free in-person professional coaching sessions in a group setting. The heat was on when the 14 attendees raced the @behindbarsbicycleshop 'Sheridan Quest' alley cat put on by shop ambassador Andy @andyanastigmat to celebrate Behind Bars Bicycle Shop's 22nd anniversary in this Northeast neighborhood. A hot and fast race to locate 9 checkpoints scavenger hunt style and make a selfie. Everyone finished in impressive time and seemed to enjoy the challenge even on such a hot July Sunday.
