The last winter adventure ride takes us through various parks in North Minneapolis, before cruising by Crystal Lake and ending at Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative. There, you can enjoy food, games, and of course beer. The route is entirely paved, and with the recent warm-up should be relatively snow-free. But as always, watch out for snow and ice. Distance is 13 miles and pace will hover around 13 mph. This is a no-drop ride. - Respect other road and trail users. Give space and an audible signal when passing. - Communicate with your fellow riders. Call out obstacles, turns, and other trail users. Use audible and visual signals. - Respect each other. No racist, homophobic, transphobic, or disrespectful behavior allowed. - Be prepared. Bring a helmet, lock, lights, a spare inner tube, and extra clothing. Ambassadors will be available for minor repairs, but you should have a backup plan in case of major issues (e.g. public transit). - Have a sense of adventure! Meet at Behind Bars Bicycle Shop @ 2 p.m. and roll out @ 2:15 p.m. If you do not have your own ice skates that is okay! The next winter adventure ride takes us through North Minneapolis before hitting the off-road mountain bike trails of Theodore Wirth Park, and ending at my favorite brewery, Utepils. A food truck will be serving burgers onsite. We will meet at 4 PM @behindbarsbicycleshop and leave at 4:10 sharp. Come early for any last-minute purchases. Pace will be around 10mph. This is a no-drop ride, meaning we will stay together as a group. Once we're on the mountain bike trails, we will wait at major junctions so that folks can regroup. Wide tires (2 inches or more) are strongly recommended for this ride. With a stiff breeze and temperatures dropping into the single digits Fahrenheit, staying comfortable will be a challenge. The 3rd Annual @behindbarsbicycleshop Winter Solstice Light Ride was impressively attended for such a bitter cold night with raw winds. We had the Stone Arch Bridge to ourselves practically, a rare occasion, which made for the now expected 'Andy photo-op' group shot a must. Ended at @modistbrewing and enjoyed pizza from across the street @bricksworthbeer .Congratulations to Britta @brittamaeerickson for winning the $50 gift card in our best decorated bike contest this year. Her twinkling Surly Cross-check was unanimously chosen by the shop ambassadors. Thanks so much to everyone who braved the weather to attend.
