The next winter adventure ride takes us through North Minneapolis before hitting the off-road mountain bike trails of Theodore Wirth Park, and ending at my favorite brewery, Utepils. A food truck will be serving burgers onsite. We will meet at 4 PM @behindbarsbicycleshop and leave at 4:10 sharp. Come early for any last-minute purchases. Pace will be around 10mph. This is a no-drop ride, meaning we will stay together as a group. Once we're on the mountain bike trails, we will wait at major junctions so that folks can regroup. Wide tires (2 inches or more) are strongly recommended for this ride. With a stiff breeze and temperatures dropping into the single digits Fahrenheit, staying comfortable will be a challenge. And with the recent warm weather, the trails may be too soft. In either case, the route will be adjusted to suit the conditions. Expect to be outside for about 3 hours. - Respect other road and trail users. Give space and an audible signal when passing. - Communicate with your fellow riders. Call out obstacles, turns, and other trail users. Use audible and visual signals. - Respect each other. No racist, homophobic, transphobic, or disrespectful behavior allowed. - Be prepared. Bring a helmet, lock, lights, a spare inner tube, and extra clothing. Ambassadors will be available for minor repairs, but you should have a backup plan in case of major issues (e.g. public transit). - Have a sense of adventure! Be ready for obstacles, uneven terrain, and possible route deviations.

Meet at Behind Bars Bicycle Shop @ 2 p.m. and roll out @ 2:15 p.m. If you do not have your own ice skates that is okay! The 3rd Annual @behindbarsbicycleshop Winter Solstice Light Ride was impressively attended for such a bitter cold night with raw winds. We had the Stone Arch Bridge to ourselves practically, a rare occasion, which made for the now expected 'Andy photo-op' group shot a must. Ended at @modistbrewing and enjoyed pizza from across the street @bricksworthbeer .Congratulations to Britta @brittamaeerickson for winning the $50 gift card in our best decorated bike contest this year. Her twinkling Surly Cross-check was unanimously chosen by the shop ambassadors. Thanks so much to everyone who braved the weather to attend. ❄️ Global Fat Bike Day 2025 ❄️ Conditions were pretty perfect on Saturday for the annual Fat Bike Day River Bottoms meetup! Adventure Coffee in the snow with 12 dozen donuts and (however many) dozens of friends on bikes? DONE! ☕️ + 🍩 + 🚲 + 🔥 + ⛄️ + 🌲 Thank you to all the folks who contributed to a successful day! To the folks who rode in the night before to drop wood, to Devin for planning and your insane trailer setup, to the multiple group ride leaders, and to everyone who showed up 🖤 @mplsbikeparks @angrycatfish @unsanctioned.rides @northerncoffeeworks @bakerswifempls Winter is an easy time to lose motivation to get outside, but events like this make it worthwhile. Global Fat Bike Day 2025 🤘❄️ We’re teaming up with @mplsbikeparks @unsanctioned.rides and @angrycatfish to offer rides and adventure coffee again this year! We’ll be on the river bottoms, south of Sibley house near the overturned car getting coffee and doughnuts set up with MPLS Bike Parks from 10 to noon on Saturday. All are welcome! We’ll also be leading a ride that starts at Sibley House at 10 am and joins onto the ride @unsanctioned.rides is leading from @angrycatfish starting at 9:30. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A FAT BIKE TO RIDE OR HANG OUT! Dress warm in layers for riding and standing!

Saturday Dec.6th, 2025 is Global Fat Bike Day! Come join us @behindbarsbicycleshop for a ride around some bandit trails in Northeast and Columbia Heights. Meet at 12 Noon with a 12:15pm Depart. Winter is starting off nicely and our trails have been graced with a few inches of lovely snow. Conditions are near perfect for a great ride. Let's get out there and ride together! Meet up at Freewheel Minnetonka at 6:15p and we'll roll out together at 6:30p. Fat bike tires are recommended for the most fun. Stop into the shop early if you need supplies. Lights, helmet, and a signed waiver is required. After the ride, around 8p, we'll meet up at the shop for Freewheel provided pizza and beverages.

IF anyone wants to fatty by cedar on the bandit trails (or knows other places in that area) feel free to message me!

Planning on riding the river bottoms tomorrow morning from Bloomington Ferry east towards Lyndale. Anyone else going to be out?
