Great food for a great price. Got about 1.5 pounds for about 15/16 dollars. Also a 14 minute walk to the D Line and Route 22 and a 10 minute walk to the Route 46 bus. Not too far from the Chicago Avenue Bike Lanes

We sat at the bar and watched the okc/spurs game. We talked sports and some other topics. One of which was I was in town because I was at the Mayo Clinic. As you and your buddy got up to leave you said “I got your tab. I don’t know what your going through but I wish you the best of luck”

A St. Paul attorney representing the ICE agent charged with pointing his gun at motorists during Operation Metro Surge said Wednesday that his client will turn himself in after prosecutors issued a nationwide warrant for his arrest in April.

In a statement, attorney Ryan Pacyga noted that the agent, Gregory Morgan, “has dedicated his professional life to public service and law enforcement.”

\n\n

“The allegations against Gregory Morgan arise from a brief, frightening, and highly stressful roadway encounter that happened in a matter of seconds during congested rush-hour traffic,” Pacyga said. “An encounter that Mr. Morgan did NOT initiate. It came on the heels of many days of fear that both citizens as well as law enforcement were experiencing during operations in our Twin Cities metro area.”

Charges allege that Morgan was driving a black unmarked SUV to the Bishop Henry Whipple Fderal Building at the end of his shift in February. Morgan was driving on the shoulder of Crosstown Hwy. 62 at the southern edge of Minneapolis, where Interstate 35W merges with Hwy. 62 near the Portland Avenue exit.

Another motorist was driving his car with a woman in the passenger seat on their way to the Mall of America. Traffic had slowed to a crawl. They saw a black SUV in the rearview mirror that was passing cars while driving on the shoulder of the road and swerved in the lane to try and block the SUV.

Prosecutors allege the assault occurred after the car had returned to the legal lane, when the SUV, still on the shoulder, pulled alongside the car and Morgan pointed a gun at the two motorists. Prosecutors say that conduct forms the basis of the second-degree assault charges.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office issued a nationwide arrest warrant on Monday for the ICE agent who allegedly shot a Venezuelan immigrant in north Minneapolis during Operation Metro Surge and then lied about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Christian J. Castro, 52, was charged in Hennepin County District Court with four counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of falsely reporting a crime. The shooting of Julio Sosa-Celis on Jan. 14 came one week after ICE agent Jonathan Ross killed Renee Good and set off another wave of intense protests amid the largest immigration enforcement action in United States history.

Sosa-Celis and his roommate, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, were initially charged with assaulting a federal officer as Trump administration officials widely publicized their mug shots and former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called their alleged crime an act of “attempted murder.” The charges were later dropped when video evidence directly contradicted the story given by federal officers.

Was doing some gardening approximately 7-7:15 this evening. Walked to the front yard. When I came back my house was covered in poop. I’m in SLP directly under today’s MSP flight approach (I know, this is [r/Minneapolis](r/Minneapolis)). If the window has been open it would have sprayed into my kitchen.

This is absolutely disgusting. Who should I be contacting to complain?

Edit: lots of folks guessing birds since there is no blue color visible here. I know they’ve got massive poops this time of year, so maybe? But there is a fairly large area that got covered, the consistency seems all wrong, and it smells like human poop. Given the sheer quantity (not all is shown in the photos) it seems like way more than any bird could poop and still be living.

It really, really doesn’t resemble any bird poop I’ve ever seen before. and I can confidently rule out neighbors unless they’ve got a cannon set up a block away.

Totally possible it wasn’t a malfunctioning airplane toilet. But when a wide spray of poop falls from an open sky, and it looks and smells like human poop, and there are planes flying directly overhead constantly (and also no birds had been seen)…it seemed like an insane conclusion was the only one that fit.

Hey hi! I’m visiting from San Francisco and love exploring urban areas on foot. I was yearning for the Midwest, so I booked a weekend trip to Minneapolis. Yesterday, I spent my Saturday walking around your gorgeous city with the goal of visiting 10 lakes + Minnehaha Falls, a Tour de Lake, if you will.

\n\n

I started around 5:15 AM from my hotel and ended the journey with dinner at Vinai. The walk was lovely. I’m in awe of the breathtaking green space, extensive bicycle/pedestrian network, and fantastic food. I made it to Powderhorn, Hiawatha, Nokomis, Diamond, Harriet, Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, Cedar, Brownie, and Wirth Lakes. The route was created entirely based on vibes, with the hope of doing a lap around each lake. Hard to pick a favorite, but...Lake Nokomis (please do not come after me).

\n\n

Next up: walking to Modern Times for breakfast before heading to Art-A-Whirl! This city has me kicking my feet with pure joy. I’m here until tomorrow afternoon, so any coffee or food recs are welcome :)

I'll be staying anonymous, but I just need to get this off my chest.

I work as a transit agent for Metro via their private security contractor. I just saw a girl get on the train with visible scars and a bag filled with stuff, saying she just needs to get to her aunt's house. My coworker let her ride, but official Metro Transit TRIP agents kicked her off, and my coworker basically got in trouble for that.

\n\n

The problem? I've been in MULTIPLE situations where people not only didn't pay their fare but were being loud, aggressive, doing drugs, and physically threatened me multiple times. So, of course, Metro police took 20+ minutes to get there, and I had to cancel the call because they got to their stop before any consequences.

\n\n

If they're really cracking down on fare evasion, then back up your employees when people actually evade fares, rather than whatever I just witnessed.

Hi all, this is a part vent and a part cry for help as I don't know how to address this situation.

\n\n

Since January, a few buildings in downtown have been rolling out anti-homeless alarms and have been using them non-stop starting in the early evening (today before 6:50pm) and ending sometime around 6am.

\n\n

Personally, I've been hearing the echos of these alarms in my apartment sometimes the moment I get home, when I try to fall asleep, the second I wake up, and then once again as I wait for the E line to go to work. They have become extremely distressing and disruptive to my ability to live downtown.

\n\n

I understand that homelessness is not a problem landlords are equipped to solve. Nonetheless, I question whether this is the correct way forward, especially as these indiscriminate actions inevitably catch residents in the crossfire. How do these actions promote a more \"liveable\" downtown?

\n\n

I want to reach out to the city, but I don't know if they'll listen to a downtown resident vs a corporate landlord. Any suggestions or friends willing to help?

I biked to piano lesson after work and then to Cedar Lake to paddle all three lakes. The birds were chirping, it was warm, the wind wasn’t about to blow me away - life is worth living. People who hate on Minneapolis are truly missing out on the (affordable) daily wonders of this excellent city.

Boarded at government plaza at 4:58. Just rolled into US Bank at 5:10. Its wild that a full train takes 10+ minutes to go one stop. Why is the busiest paty of the network by far the slowest? Idk why they didnt just bury or elevate the line when they put it in. So much wasted potential, it actually makes me sad.

IMO, the Byzantine Memorial Chapel is one of the most profoundly beautiful places in Minneapolis. You really must see it in person to get the full effect. Today is your chance (though, to be fair, you'll get other chances if you miss today, like Memorial Day.) The opportunity is not as rare as some of the other Doors Open locations, but if you need something else to do with Mom after your brunch or whatever, I highly recommend it.

The Memorial Chapel is the centerpiece of the cemetery and a priceless architectural treasure—one of the most perfect examples of Byzantine mosaic art in the United States. When it was completed in 1910, it was the only building in America with an authentic mosaic interior. Through the years, visitors have been astonished to find such an outstanding architectural jewel in the heart of the Midwest. Many experts now believe that a work of such magnitude could not be recreated at any price today, as artisans possessing the necessary skills have passed into history.

Designed by prominent Minneapolis architect Harry Wild Jones and modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mosaic Interior

\n\n

The chapel interior was created by New York designer Charles Lamb and many consider it the most perfect example of Byzantine mosaic art in the United States. In 1909, Lamb traveled to Rome to enlist the services of six highly accomplished mosaic artists who had just recently completed a project in the Vatican. The artists created more than 10 million mosaic pieces, called tesserae, from marble, colored stone, and glass fused with gold and silver. The artists then traveled to Minneapolis to assemble the work inside the chapel.​

\n\n

The chapel dome is 40 feet high and ringed with stained-glass windows that serve as a sundial telling the time of day and season. Four large mosaic figures representing Love, Hope, Faith and Memory are situated on the side walls below the dome. The figures were based on paintings by Lamb’s wife, Ella Condie Lamb, a noted portrait artist of her time.

Renovation

\n\n

In 1996, Lakewood embarked on a year-long project of renovating the chapel. Under the guidance of architect Jim W. Miller, AIA, new lighting and heating systems were installed, a new crematory was built in the lower level, and the front entrance was landscaped.

\n\n

Part of Miller’s task was undoing alterations made over the century, such as attempts to darken the interior with yellow paper over the stained-glass windows and a brown carpet over the marble floor. To remain true to the original architect’s and designer’s intentions, Miller studied letters exchanged among Jones, Lamb and the Lakewood Cemetery Building Committee.

The 1996 renovation maintained the high standards set when the chapel was built nearly a century earlier. The best materials were used and highly skilled artists were chosen to do the work. Because of this consistent attention to excellence, the Lakewood Memorial Chapel will continue to be a beautiful sanctuary for the community through the 21st century and beyond.

So today I met my grandpa over in St. Paul and took the 61 Bus over to Southeast and Northeast Minneapolis for Doors Open. We first went to the Como Community Center, but then eventually took the 61 bus again over to Kramarczuk’s Sausage. My Grandpa got the Polish Kielbasa and I got the Grinder Sandwich. Both were great, with me trying a small bite of the Kielbasa that my grandpa got. My grandpa also got one their beers. When we left, we realized we were lucky enough to there when we did, as when we left there was a long line of people. We also took the 11 bus over to the Mississippi watershed, and then took the 32 and 83 buses back after we went to Antiquified Antiques to get my mom something for Mother’s Day. Anyways the food at Kramarczuk’s was great as always and I definitely see my some coming back here in the near future

After my update post of yesterday, many of you asked to see pictures from the Mayday parade. These are for you and for everyone else who took the time to send me your condolences and suggestions for healing. Thank you. You and your community helped me when I needed it most. I am eternally grateful.

\n\n

One note about the parade. I loved it. I loved that it was a celebration of life in a community devastated by inhumanity. The persistence of life in death - the rise of order from entropy. Mayday is the celebration of life. What began on the solstice with the promise of renewal is manifest on the equinox and in full bloom on Mayday.

\n\n

Mayday is also the time for the people, long dormant during the capitalist winter, to shatter permafrost’s isolation and reclaim the commons. Like plants after a forest fire, we rise not as individuals, but as an interconnected community. A forest is not made of one tree but of a diverse interconnected ecosystem. Each plant unique but totally dependent on each other for survival. Mono culture equals death. Diversity equals life, no system of extraction can clear cut the heart of the community.

\n\n

One final note. I really wanted to give a shout out to ArtStart and Lake Harriet Community School. As a parent myself, I know how hard it was for you all to pull that off. I could tell the parents were exhausted and the poor kids looked spent. The amount of time that that y’all must have spent to put that together, I can’t imagine. But I wanted to let you know that someone saw and appreciated your effort. Thank you.

Found someones dog running through traffic on E 26th and Hiawatha. Brown with a white chest star pity mix intact male with a brown Carhartt collar with a white shoe string and no tags. I took him to a vet clinic and they couldn't find a chip on him. Does this look like your dog???

I'd rather be able to give them back to the owner instead of having animal control pick him up, he seems in fairly decent health and relatively clean and was familiar with getting into a car and a house so he's definitely someone's dog.

\n\n

Update: animal control picked him up at around 5:15pm 5/5/26, and they have my contact info, when they came to pick him up they had a scanner on hand and they scanned him again to double-check but still found no chip. 🫤 But while I was hanging out with him in my backyard he drank some water and I gave him some dog food, he really warmed up and knows some basic commands; he is clearly a loved pup and I hope his owners are looking for him!

I was overwhelmed by your kindness and suggestions. I may not have gotten to you all and on some of the comments, I realized I just thanked for your suggestions and not for your condolences. And for that, I apologize.

A large number of you mentioned the Eloise Butler wildflower garden as a place where I might find peace and serenity. And I did, to a certain extent. I think I was too busy taking pictures of the flowers to actually stop and smell them. I must’ve taken hundreds, but seriously it really did bring me a lot of calm and peace.

\n\n

I also visited the Walker, Minnehaha Falls, the Seward Cafe (great punk show), The 311 Club - Vacant rocks also Hi Alessandro & Dimitri - the only 2 Person I met all weekend. Also checked out the Fine Line on Saturday evening with it all culminating at the May Day Parade on Sunday.

\n\n

It’s been rough on y’all the last couple years with extreme sadness and grief at the loss of your loved ones and your communities. To keep your humanity through such horrors demonstrates, to me, your wonderful and kind nature. Thank you for your empathy, thank you for your support, and thank you for your humanity.
