\n\nMy family (me, my wife, and 19 month old daughter) are car-lite in Denver (one car, I bike to work/daycare/errands) and visiting Minneapolis in a few weeks.
\n\nWe'd love to keep the lifestyle going on vacation, but I'm having trouble finding reasonably priced e-bike rentals that include a toddler seat. The couple shops I have found are closed Sunday-Monday, which makes our Monday morning flight a bit hard to catch.
\n\nWe'll be in town from Thursday 6/4 to Monday 6/8, staying in Standish, would be looking either for a full day Sunday rental (say Saturday evening to Sunday evening) or a full mid-day Thursday-Sunday evening rental, depending on cost.
\n\nDoes anyone have any leads, or would be willing to loan out their own bikes for the weekend for a couple hundred bucks (and whatever reassurance/collateral you'd need, of course)?

\n\nThe past many weeks I’ve been using the greenway again after a long hiatus due to job changes, and it seems like the greenway is STILL detoured to 28th between 5th and Bryant - but the only news I can find about the detour is from October 2025. Sometimes it looks like it MIGHT actually be open, but I’m loathe to have to turn back around if I’m wrong. Does anyone know the actual status of the Greenway at this point or have resources that maybe I’m overlooking?

\n\n\nCan someone help me understand why Google Maps prefers a longer, indirect route via Johnny Cake Ridge Road rather than taking Pilot Knob Road in this stretch north of 140th Street? From satellite view, both appear to have off-street paved paths. Is Pilot Knob less bike-friendly (traffic, crossings, path quality, etc.)?

\n\n\nAs you can see from the photo, the yellow portion of the Luce Line trail is closed. As in, the bridges are out, full stop you are not getting through. You can seem in orange my ad-hoc detour but it’s not very bike friendly (and may have involved someone’s backyard). You WILL NOT learn this information from the Hennepin Co or Three Rivers websites, both of which have info about closures but NOT this one. Doesn’t look at all temporary either.

\n\nMinneapolis Parks is putting on a \"choose your own adventure\" ride aimed at young riders! Participants meet at Lake Nokomis beach house and get a ride handbook that has a map, list of locations to ride too, some ride info, and space to get stamps.
\n\nRiders can see how many spots they can get to before the after party at 2:30. If you plan on riding with your younger cyclists, the whole route would be 12 miles as the crow flies.
\n\nAfter party features food and music with games! Still room to sign up!

It looks like the trail technically stops and then restarts again by the lake. If cars are going fast, is there a sidewalk to ride on for that short section?

\n\nLocal coach Corey Coogan Cisek is teaching a Group Riding Program hosted by the St Paul Bicycle Racing Club.
\n\nThe Group Riding Program is intended for any adult bike rider looking to improve their group-riding skills, from folks newer to cycling to experienced riders interested in improving their racing. This course offers on-bike instruction in riding etiquette, bicycle handling techniques, group riding techniques, and racing tactics -- a solid preparation for informal group training rides sponsored by clubs throughout the metro area.

\n\nAnd who am I? I'm a 40-something female cyclist & adult-onset athlete, who got into group riding & racing in 2021. I began training with Corey after taking her road cycling clinic, then started riding regularly with SPBRC members to improve my fitness and racing skill. I can't recommend Corey highly enough as a teacher and coach -- she meets folks where they are, and is skilled at offering supportive, clear instruction to improve your cycling. SPBRC folks are generally very strong riders, have excellent group ride/racing skills, and have offered great tips/mentoring on rides to this beginner.

One nice feature highlighted in the video was a cyclist signal that not only automatically detected a cyclist, it had an indicator to the cyclist informing them that they were detected.
\n\nDoes Minneapolis have any of these anywhere? I know of one cycling signal at the intersection of 18th Ave SE and Como Ave SE in the Como Neighborhood. But there is no indication to the cyclist the the signal has registered their presence. You just have to just hope and wait till the signal cycles. Even more annoying is that the signal only shows on the southbound side. The signal can be green and the northbound side doesn't know it.
\n\nSo has anyone seen any automatic cyclist signals that inform the cyclist that their presence is registered around town? It seems like a very small but useful improvement. Stopping to press a beg button is very annoying.

\n\nI am curious about biking from the Cedar Lake/Parkway area over to, say, East Hennepin/downtown. Are all of those trails reconnected now with the Cedar Lake trail and Kenilworth trails? The Strava heatmap is a little lacking, but that may just be because those trails have only just reopened. And as for connecting from those trails to Hennepin... is that decently safe?

My old neighborhood had the Greenway and Chain of Lakes, plus the recently constructed off street routes on Hennepin and Bryant, all just a stones throw away. The apparent lack of similar options in my new neighborhood is pretty discouraging. Does anyone know of any protected routes in/near Mac Grove, or just in the city in general, that I may have overlooked? So far all I’m aware of is the River Parkway

Which trail route would be safest for a woman cycling solo? I'm looking for 15-16 miles of paved trails for a road bike. I'm a fair-weather-only cyclist so if it's too wet or too windy I just won't go! Also, is it too tricky/sketchy to get from Walser Subaru to the trail itself? It looks like I'll have to ride on roads or walk it on sidewalks for a half mile to a mile or so.
