Twin Cities Bike Tour Presents the Loons Loop, this Saturday, October 3rd!\n\nThe Loons Loop is now available the week before the Twin Cities Bike Tour!\n\nEnjoy a kid-rider friendly 4.5 Mile Route along and across the Mississippi, or a NEW 2 Mile Strider-Friendly Route – 99% Trails!\n\nThis FREE ride is capped at 150 riders to keep down route congestion and keep the group together, so register soon! Check-in begins at 8:30am at Brackett park with activities for kids and adults alike (there are bathrooms and playground in the immediate vicinity).\n\nWe will roll out together at 9am heading east on the Midtown Greenway until we hit the river.\n\nThose doing the main 4.5 mile route will head north on West River Parkway Trail and across the Franklin Bridge with beautiful views of the Mississippi River. From there we’ll head south along East River Parkway trail until we get to the Lake Street Bridge and cross there to Loons Coffee for refreshments and socializing.\n\nThose doing the 2 mile Out-n-Back Stride-n-Stroll will take a right when we get to West River Pkwy at a slower pace (think tykes on striders while an adult walks or jogs alongside them) and meets the rest of the group at Loons Coffee. We’ll all head the same direction back to the start after refreshments and treats. We aim to return to Bracket Park before noon.\n\nWhat does this cost?\n\nNada, zilch, zero, but donations to cover costs are certainly appreciated.

Meet Terri she/hers! - @terrihongbaum @piecycleclub \n\nWhat is a favorite memory on the bike?\nAt this moment in time, my favorite memory on the bike is biking with my son to his preschool for the first time - 2.5 miles for a 4 year old was a big deal!!\n \nWhat accolades/accomplishments are you most proud of?\nI’m most proud of teaching both my kids how to bike, as well as co creating a pastry loving bike community through Piecycle.\n \nHow long have you been riding a bike?\nSince I was a kid! Different chapters in my life bring different versions of how I ride which has been fun to experience.\n \nWhat brings you joy in cycling currently?\nHonestly, right now any bike commute brings me joy, especially when I have a full bike load of kiddos in tow on their way to school, singing Kpop Demon Hunters at the top of their lungs.\n \nWhat role does cycling play in your life?\nCycling is synonymous to community to me. I’ve met some of the best people in my life because my bike led me to them!\n \nHow did you get your start in cycling?\nI started completely cycling through triathlon via endurance running.\n \nWhat’s your future with cycling?\nDefinitely more community rides and commuting for sure... and maybe some racing or something of the sort some day, who knows!

We’re back with this year’s April Piecycle Ride!\n\n🗓️:on Sunday, 4/26 at 2pm\n📍 meeting at Bryn Mawr Meadows Park Playground 🛝 \n\nMore details: We’ll meet at the playground at Bryn Mawr Meadows Park (on Morgan and Laurel) at 2:00 PM and roll out at 2:15 on Sunday, April 26th. We plan to ride to Diane’s Place in Northeast - just under 4 miles - via the newly reopened Cedar Lake Trail. We will enjoy pastries and drinks at the end of the ride. The ride is family friendly, and riders of all skills and paces are welcome.

Race Report: Frequent Piecyclist Zach Anderson (@zchanderson) rode the Iditarod Trail Invitational 350 and was gracious enough to share his experience with us! From -15* backyard camps in preparation to dodging frostbite along the way, it’s an incredible journey. Excerpt below and the full write-up at pie.bike (link in bio).\n\nFrom Zach: It was 7 years ago my dream of riding my bike through the historic Iditarod Trail was ignited after completing my first winter ultra, the Tuscobia 80 miler. This year, I got my opportunity and I was finally able to put to the test the past years of gear testing and experimentation.\n\nWhen I received confirmation of my acceptance into the 350 mile Iditarod Trail Invitational I knew there would be a big road ahead to prepare and ensure all my gear was ready for this epic back country ride against the elements. In ITI history the race has seen all kinds of weather and it is not unheard of to see temps down to -30f. I began making checklists of gear that was still needed and took the opportunity whenever able to test gear at home, like sleeping in the back yard whenever the thermometer dipped below -15f. With months of trainer workouts completed and final gear tests wrapped up I finally felt prepared and ready to hop on a plane to Alaska to begin my journey. \n\nI landed in Anchorage on Thursday evening 2/19 , and found myself immediately visiting and enjoying the company of other participants. The community that surrounds this event is absolutely amazing and the comradery is unlike any other event I have been a part of. Saturday quickly came and the race director reminded us of how remote this trail is and how important everyone understood that we are on our own out there during the final race meeting.
